I'll ufficialize it later (I'm not home), but I'll take the ec2 packages for
necessity.

I would be very pleased to maintain this package:

> app-doc/repodoc

I am not an ebuild developer, I belong to the Spanish
translation team (to which I joined recently). One of
our former leads (yoswink) maintained this package, it
is a pity to abandon it.
I would like to maintain gentoo packages in the future,
so I think this is a good start point.
Currently I am reading the Developers Guide, to know
how the gentoo stuff works.

Is there any chance I can maintain this package?. What do
I have to do?.

Thanks.

You could provide unified patches to the ebuilds to fix the four
outstanding bugs[1] with the package. Someone should CC themselves on
those bugs who has commit access for the thing to work, of course.
Maybe the live (-9999) ebuild could use some work too.

Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction.
I'll begin to work in those bugs.

Cheers.

I can be your proxy commmiter for this one, perhaps a starting
point is to update the home page[2] of this package; actually I don't
know if it is still developed.

Ping me when you have some news :)

As I'm retiring, the following packages I maintained need someone else
to look after them:

media-video/avidemux - video and qt herds (this one needs a version bump)
media-video/smplayer - qt and video herds
x11-themes/haematite-xcursors - desktop-misc herd
x11-themes/obsidian-xcursors - ,,
x11-themes/pearlgrey-xcursors - ,,
x11-wm/openbox - hwoarang?, lxde herd, desktop-wm herd
app-misc/vifm <-- this is now maintainer-needed!
app-text/wgetpaste <-- this is now maintainer-needed!

Also, my proxy-maintainers will need new contacts:
x11-wm/echinus - anyone from desktop-wm still active?
dev-php/roadsend-php - anyone from php?

I hope I didn't forget anything.

Cheers,
Ben

I forgot to add:

app-text/poppler - reavertm?, now assigned to kde herd, and printing
herd which is basically dead
app-text/poppler-data - assigned to dead printing herd and loki_val
who is on extended devaway
dev-python/python-poppler - taken over by python herd

Alive & kicking, we'll gladly proxy it for Nico

Yeah, kde herd is on it.

We can also assimilate this one if needed.

I guess I should have done a proper grep on the tree before my first
message. I missed a few more that are now up for grabs:

media-sound/ncmpcpp - tanderson?, sound herd
app-text/convertlit
app-admin/makepasswd
app-backup/rsnapshot - proxy maintainer needs new contact
app-cdr/recorder - media-optical herd
app-laptop/lenovo-sl-laptop
dev-php5/symfony - proxy maintainer needs new contact
media-sound/wavegain - sound herd
net-misc/wput
www-client/dillo - desktop-misc herd, but could use dedicated
maintainer (also for fltk:2)
x11-themes/pekwm-themes-hewphoria - proxy maintainer (same as for
echinus) needs new contact (xarthisius?)

Cheers,
Ben

^^ I'll take these

media-video/smplayer

^^ The Qt team will take care of this. I might add myself as a
maintainter to give it some extra attention, we'll see.

Thank you for your help in trying to get the app-doc/repodoc package
back to live :-)

I've found some information on this package:

1. I've contacted Fernando Pereda (ferdy), one of the authors of
repodoc. He told me (as expected) that this package is no longer
maintained. He recommends to find out if the translatos are
currently using this package (seems very reasonable).
Besides, the package is not very secure, since it allows to run
commands by using a specially modify doc.
It is slow and the technologies used (bash and sed) are not the
   proper ones to manage XML.

2. I've pinged the gentoo-translators maillist [1] to find
translators who are using this package. I've got only one
negative answer in a week or so.

3. I've taken a look at the package's unresolved bugs:
197617 - Seems tough to fix, according to yoswink and neysx
            comments.
297946 - I've posted a comment [2] in this bug. No answer at
            the moment.
   297947 - Haven't check yet.
299753 - Seems easy to fix.

So, IMO you can mark it for removal.

Regards.
