[gentoo-embedded] creating the base system

Hi,
now I got my system to start GRUB. Now I have the problem how to build a 
small system that runs a firefox with support for java-applets. Is there 
  a way to build a gentoo base-system without things like gcc and other 
dev-tools? I realy only need a firefox with java and not a full featured 
linux.

Have you looked at the TinyGentoo wiki entry
(http://gentoo-wiki.com/TinyGentoo)?

It shows a technique for building a Gentoo distribution without the
dev tools and libs.

Failing that, you could always manually copy the required files out of
an existing installation (or chroot environment as described in
TinyGentoo).  That's what I've been doing for my project.
