OK I ran 'quickpkg gcc' got this:

ls /usr/portage/packages/sys-devel
gcc-4.1.2.tbz2 gcc-4.1.2.tbz2.28680 gcc-4.3.4.tbz2 gcc-4.4.4-r2.tbz2

now run scp ./*tbz2 <remotehost>://usr/portage/packages/sys-devel

or somewhere in /usr/portage/sys-devel/gcc

(where to copy which *tbz2 file(s) to?
Ignore copying the 'gcc-4.1.2.tbz2.28680' file?
