Hello Everyone,
I feel, stupid. The answer was in the arcane bios settings.
I has to delete the bios harddrive entries and let
the bios "auto" discover the master boot drive. Once I did
that, grub popped up like a fresh daisy....
Now, in the next few days, I'm going to put the HD onto
a 4 gig CF card and one of those ide to CF converters and
see how it goes.....
