I know nothing about Intel graphics, but my guess is that your kernel has no
framebuffer console support. It's a relatively new addition to the kernel
graphics config menu, and it's easy to overlook.
I don't know that the intel driver needs fb/fbcon support, but that's what
the error message complains about so it's worth a look.
