I've developed an ulcer just reading Kevin's thread from the last several days. Marc just posted what I was going to say about nVidia, so I'll just mention that I just posted a comment in Kevin's thread about my mouse configuration, which I hope someone will find useful. Sorry if I'm repeating stuff from the other thread -- I've solved a few very confusing problems with the use of lshal and by turning on verbose logging for the X server (X -logverbose).
