Your recorder might be deteriorating (the laser in them doesn't live 
forever).

You might want to burn at slower speeds, probably 16x or even 8x.  Don't 
go lower than that though, since on fast burners 6x and below result in 
bad burns again.

You might also be dealing with copy protected audio CDs.  Do the copies 
play fine in other players other then the one in the car?
