I don't remember doing that, but maybe I missed something during an
install, who knows...

> chown username: /home/username/.ssh
> chown username: /home/username/.ssh/*
> chmod 700 /home/username/.ssh
> chmod 600 /home/username.ssh/*

Yep, this solved it.  I just wasn't sure if the user was supposed to
belong to some group for this to work automatically, but I guess
not...
