Ever since the /lib64, split-user changes ... emerge @x11-module-rebuild
will only find Xorg-server and try to compile it ... and promptly crash.

If I recompile the Xorg components by themselves, they build and install
no problem.

An emerge / Portage problem?

I have one older box which still behaves "correctly." On my newer box,
built about a month ago, I get the same behavior you describe. I have
no explanation.

Looks like an emerge bug. :(
Hoped for an easy fix.

Well, I'll file a bug report with Gentoo first thing in the morning.

On my two machines, the problem doesn't happen. They are old, but I
can't imagine what would be the difference with a new installation.

It seems someone already did it :

@x11-module-rebuild doesn't work for amd64
The good news is that the fix is done, and will be available soon.

Best regards
