[gentoo-user] gnome intrusion?

I noticed some obnoxious-looking processes in my system:

I don't use a DE, just plain openbox. I had a few xterms running and
also Opera, no other graphical app. The above processes appeared after
Opera was launched.
 Why oh why should there be a process "at-spi2-registryd --use-gnome-session"?

gnome-session?! I don't even have gnome installed.

On a related note, the session logs have this gem:

ERROR:object_proxy.cc(583)] Failed to call method:

The name org.freedesktop.UPower was not provided by any .service files

Why should this be considered an error? I don't have upower installed.
I don't want upower.

I understand this is not the kind of stuff most users care about.
Just wondering whether somebody else is somewhat bothered by this.
