That's vixie-cron, and it's perfectly happy.

I initially installed chronie (since that's what's shown in the
handbook). =C2=A0When I couldn't get it working, I removed it and emerg= ed
vixie-cron (which I've never had any trouble with).

I forgot to stop chronie before I uninstalled it.
