Hi,

This is maybe a bit off topic but here goes. =A0I want to install Linux on = my brothers rig. =A0The heat sink on the CPU is not much, OEM type. =A0I do= n't want to install Gentoo because of that and it is a older rig with a= slow CPU and not a lot of ram either. =A0So, what is a easy to install dis= tro that has KDE4, Seamonkey, gtkam, GIMP and such? =A0I want something eas= y because I want to install and leave it be until he can get a new rig buil= t. =A0Then I'll be installing Gentoo for a more permanent install.

I looked at Kubuntu, Ubuntu and tried to install Mandriva. =A0Mandriva got = to a point and just froze up on me. =A0I tried three times and it did the s= ame thing each time so no clue what is going on there.

Ideas?

One more question. =A0What is a easy to install but WELL tested and STABLE = binary distro? =A0I'm thinking something that needs a update 2 or 3 tim= es a year or something. =A0My brother is liking Linux a lot. =A0No more Nor= ton to pop up and aggravate him and he can just surf wherever he wants for = the most part. =A0Once I get his emails moved over, windoze is going to tak= e a loooooong nap. =A0;-) =A0When I plug up the windoze drive, he dreads it= .

My sis-n-law is liking Kpat and I installed pysol today. =A0She likes farmi= ng on facebook and card games. =A0I think those two alone will keep her hap= py a long time.

Thoughts?

By the way, I have read some of the other messages but holding off on a rep= ly in case something doesn't work like I want. =A0I did get grub to com= e up when booting by hitting the shift key. =A0Progress. =A0I forgot my not= es tho. =A0lol
