A follow up:

A partition that had no problems at all with ext4 earlier...

... again got stuck during mkfs.reiserfs. The journal creation progress = reached 100%, then... nothing.

System stuck totally. After about 15 minutes, ssh session died. Console = session totally unresponsive.

I will retry using mkntfs.
