At least, not that the drive controller knows about. You might try "smartctl -t offline $DEVICE_NODE" to have the drive run a self-test. Don't let "offline" fool you; you can still do other things, the test will just be suspended during disk activity, and resume when disk activity dies down. --=20 :wq
