Looks like I have libtool 2.2.10 (like you) installed; should I mask
the newer version and attempt a 1.5 installation?

eix -e libtool
[I] sys-devel/libtool
     Available versions:
        (1.3)   1.3.5
        (1.5)   **1.5.26 ~1.5.26-r1 2.2.6b **9999
        (2)     ~2.2.8-r1 2.2.10 **2.4
        {test vanilla}
     Installed versions:  2.2.10(2)(07:58:35 AM 10/03/2010)(-vanilla)
     Homepage:            http://www.gnu.org/software/libtool/
     Description: A shared library tool for developers

Won't that affect other packages, too?
