I have just emerged firefox-3.6.9 successfully on a 32 bit machine, maybe it
is a bug you should report on bugzilla.

I didn't have this problem.
It looks like the ebuild has been updated twice in the past 16 hours.
Maybe try to emerge --sync and try it again, perhaps something was
fixed along the way. (or maybe something was broken along the way... )
