Currently have an Althon XP 2000 and looking to upgrade to the following:

Athlon 64 3000+ 800FSB
Albatron K8NF4U socket 939 mobo
Albatron TC6200 128MB DDR video card
1GB PC-3200 RAM
485W PSU

...and use my exisiting 3R Santafe Case, trasferring the old
mobo/CPU/memory to another case for use as a PVR.

This machine isn't going to be used for any major gaming so I'm not too
worried about the video card (the above items, other than the PSU are
provided as a bundle).

How does this look as an upgrade option?

Is there anything I need to be aware of when trying to run Gentoo A64 on
this? The mobo is Nforce 4 based, is this likely to cause any issues?

don't know, but I bought the Asrock DualSata2 last week - ULI based - and
surprisingly from the hw side were no problems

But I also bought it, because of the socket-upgrade slot and the fast agp-slot
besides pcie (didn't want to buy a new graphics card).
If you buy a new card anywhere, such upgrade path is pretty useless for you so
- if the Albatron has, what you want, and is in the price range, you are
willing to pay - why not?

I have the nForce 4 based MSI K8N Neo4 with a Athlon 64 3700+ with 1GHz FSB
and have had no problems. I chickened out, however and installed Gentoo x86
on it because I use the machine for QT software development and didn't want
to have to worry about 64 bit compatability and all of the packages that are
masked on amd64. Anyway, it is a great machine as is.
