This is the first time I've seen it with vixie cron. I have been getting mails with subject/content like this: Subject: Cron est -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons /bin/bash: line 1: est: command not found Subject: Cron m -f /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly /bin/bash: line 1: m: command not found The cronjobs causeing this, I assume are: */10 * * * * root test -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons 0 * * * * root rm -f /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly Respectivly. So it looks like cron is accepting 'root' as the username to run the command as, is doing SOMETHING with the first letter of each command, and running the rest as something seperate. Does vixie-cron not accept that username-before-command syntax? I noticed that I couldn't find anything mentioning it in `man crontab` or `man 5 crontab`. If so, I am assuming this crontab was installed with the stage3 tarball and not vixiecron? Anyinsight would be appreciated.
