Actually I didn't do `emerge -e xorg-x11` or even `emerge -e world`, when I had problems to upgrade xorg. Instead of, I redirect the output of `emerge -ep xorg-x11` into a temporary file, and re-emerged only the x-related packages from this file. This would safe a lot of time.
