(Device Drivers->USB Suppport->USB Human Interface Device (full HID) support). Make sure it is =y to build into the kernel. My system at home uses no PS/2 devices at all. If you want a hardware solution, generally a PS2 splitter will do the trick. It is common to use these with laptops to allow a PS/2 keyboard and a PS/2 mouse to be connected to the same port, although there is nothing really 'special' about the splitter.
