The last time someone reported a font problem here (about a week ago), it was fixed by forcing a 75dpi resolution. Try setting 'Option "UseEdidDpi" "Off"' in xorg.conf, and comment out any DisplaySize options. This should give you a 75x75 dpi (check with xdpyinfo, or in /var/log/Xorg.0.log).
