This "support for your mobo chipset" is crucial. The chipset support
must be compiled statically into the kernel, not as a module!
I had a similar problem with my hard disks (the same error msg), and it
went away as soon as I compiled my chipset support statically into the
kernel.
("Generic" doesn't cut it for DMA).
