I ran into that a = good while back.  What I had was a blank inittab file
in /etc.=   This is what should be in there:

I was lucky, I make a back= -up of my /etc directory every once in a
while.  I just copied= it back over.  I had to boot from the CD and mount
the root p= artition to do that though.
