Hi, As your error shows, the problem is wget is broken so you cannot download anything using wget. If you can use another tool to FTP the wget archive to /usr/portage/distfiles, or copy it from another machine, then you should be able to rebuild wget and proceed with emerging everything else. I ran into the same problem on my laptop a while back. There were lots of people who got bit by this, if you do some searching on this list or on the forums, or this bug: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=234907 you can get additional info that might help you some more.
