I simply went for it. unmasked gcc-5.3.0, compiled it, and then recompiled @system and the kernel ("make localmodconfig" to be curious) with it. Booted it, snappy, fine! right now gcc rebuilds itself, some more packages to re-emerge, load at around 7.5, system usable, audio stream without a hickup.
