Check the permissions there. Mine looks like this: brw-rw---- 1= =20 root disk 22, 0 Mar 10 12:47 hdc If that is your case just `gpasswd -a disk` and you should b= e=20 good to go. Don't bother trying to change the permissions on hdc since they= =20 will be reverted back when you next reboot. -Mike On 8/7/05, Daniel Drake wrote: >=20 > Antoine wrote: > > Using mplayer > > antt@tux ~ $ mplayer dvd://1 > > .... > > Playing dvd://1. > > libdvdread: Could not open device with libdvdcss. > > libdvdread: Can't open /dev/dvd for reading > > Couldn't open DVD device: /dev/dvd > > > > /dev/dvd is there - but I am not sure if this is right. > > > > antt@tux ~ $ ls -l /dev/dvd > > lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Aug 7 13:34 /dev/dvd -> hdc >=20 > How about "ls -l /dev/hdc" ? > -- > gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list >=20 >=20 --=20 ________________________________ Michael E. If that is your case  just `gpasswd -a <yourusername> disk` and you should be good to go. Don't bother trying to change the permissions on hdc since they will be reverted back when you next reboot.
