HOwdy,

So, using gmail as my front end to read gentoo user I see
this quite a lot now:

"weft didn't produce an output."

But when from the Gmane interface I select "followup"
it shows the message the previous poster wrote. Strange.

Googling I found: http://www.pressure.to/qda/

Which says version 2.0 was only release in alpha
and 1.x is deprecated.

(Hello Lars, what's your plan?)

Is there another easy to use front end read/post to gentoo-user?

(Please do not say NNTP)....

curiously James

I never could get the hang of reading mail in a browser....

I'm still very olde skool in these matters, so:

Subscribe directly to gentoo-user and pop your mail from gmail in a
regular mail client?

I think he meant Gmane.

I have seen these "weft didn't produce an output" messages myself, following some Gmane links that were posted here this week.

Stroller.

Gmane is very nice. it mostly works. I noticed all the "WEFT" messages
are gone (for now?)......Lars BUDDY!

pine? common Alan, your dating us old farts......
alpine? (I guess is the current form/derivative of pine? REALLY?

If you do this, you have to delete messages. With Gmane, I can ignore
gentoo-user sporadically with no consequences. Also, If I can get to
any browser, I can read and post to gentoo-user; which has saved my
bacon on several occations.......

What I was hoping for is some new fancy (ajax/ruby/?) frontend that
works better than gmane.org............?

James

Well I did at least make a concession to new stuff and use a gui mail
client. Currently Thunderbird.

Alpine itself is now abandonware and replaced with some other *pine* app :-)

No, Eduardo Chappa still does Alpine releases every now and then,
2.11 is of last August and it's in portage. And who needs new versions
more often when a program works that well? :-)

Pine, that brings back some old memories...

Why delete messages when using a real mail client?

mail-client/roundcube ?
With an imap-server ( net-mail/cyrus-imapd )
