As it happens I went ahead and did a sync followed by a deep portage update followed by deep world update. Avg. download speed ~ 2.9k/s. Took about 36hrs. Phew! Thankfully there was only 61 pkges to do. Now I'm looking for advice on setting up udev. A message in one of the logs says to be sure and start udev on boot but there's no such thing in the /etc/init scripts. -mw ____________________________________________________________________________________ Finding fabulous fares is fun.
