That seems to be the general gist, yes. > The blog writer's closing paragraph is very poetic it hurts; for I'm > about to leave my beloved Gentoo servers behind... I am actually considering using Gentoo on servers, myself. I've been using it on my desktop for a while. The only thing that I am really concerned about is that if I do use it on servers, I'm going to have to find some way to gain better control over the local Portage tree. What I really ought to be doing is looking at Portage way closer than I do as an everyday user. I just want to be absolutely sure that I don't break anything on a server when I update. But since I have recently learned about and started learning Puppet, I think I might have a much easier time mitigating the risks of change by having an environment that is defined not in terms of the underlying distribution, but in terms of the requirements of the servers. --- Mike --=20 A man who reasons deliberately, manages it better after studying Logic than he could before, if he is sincere about it and has common sense. --- Carveth Read, =E2=80=9CLogic=E2=80= =9D --------------enig5647CDBD6970F7C496DEDAA4 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.17 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQGcBAEBAgAGBQJPPR0zAAoJEMhPuajlh3KVSIwMAIQH5HmQsWsJ8/8vf6znw2C/ 3itcwiIn6x/mdxsqHNasFjBmWlauxSICm0UbSsOlZx4vpovC1BnUIQTojKpKtOWm zrqePR4Gvkcin+tFrioxGs7ZU36GsOKS+oSPGPOl/JybBvK01BDEpAEaymmE923L YJUBUh+sKVbLCGZysAbyOIxoa2ZYwTPm6EQ7hG4pnNzmU3fh9T35e1ZzikstD3uo Leh0DSBWGht6SlCtVtx/kftW9RaG4lnzvm1uvr6RXZritAt1gHAJ/wzQ7cD4OPtS LZY+SAtcehQ0Gc0RZHZWkRkaYOgVlpJ3yszc/nXLKuFoms1VSHDdrQEUF4diaHqI lJk0elTRJrpd62XeZPm68VWywbfS0942k7eywR5nb8jVAjrrVoACk9L4GiSqluu3 GOJlxVZMMhmPNtcXI7RVwJJsBS0RocVFUYGQ8a6k9agJe6hM5WkxbPupjSu9YXEY vbIPAl2I8UzR7D0jirJEy7uPuot9Io14bMT3ZriH+w== =PSf7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------enig5647CDBD6970F7C496DEDAA4--
