I am still running into the same problem since a couple of days ago. I
tried both

SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"
SYNC="rsync://rsync.namerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage"

Is anyone having issues with syncing the portage tree?
