These guys seem to have fixed the problem by upgrading to the latest version of alsa-driver, alsa-lib, and alsa-utils: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=27987&p=168950 I'm on the latest hardened-sources in the tree which is 2.6.29. I'm thinking I need a newer version of the snd-hda-intel driver and I don't want to switch kernels. I tried to switch to the latest alsa-driver, alsa-lib, alsa-utils, and alsa-headers, but I ended up with a bunch of "Unknown symbol in module" errors. The error is described here: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml but the 2 solutions (rm -rf /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/alsa-driver and some device_mode stuff) don't work for me. Does anyone know how I can fix this? - Grant
