After removing libglx.so, I tried emerge again and got the following message: !!! Cannot write to '/usr/lib32/opengl/ati/extensions'. !!! Please check permissions and directories for broken symlinks. Eventually, I did emerge -C ati-drivers dispatch-conf emerge -D -uav world That seems to have taken care of the problems ... for now anyway. John
