Something fishy somewhere.  Here is mine:

> root@smoker / # ls -l /dev/usb/
> total 0
> crw-rw---- 1 root lp 180, 0 Jan  9 03:59 lp0

Not sure why but I don't think I have changed anything.  Maybe one of
your rules was changed or not updated somehow.
