By using "hdparm -I", rather than "hdparm -i", I was able to find out that my hard drive is operating in UDMA6 mode in Gentoo. It is operating in PIO mode in windows, and I can't seem to find a solution for this problem. I have discovered that the problem is somewhere in the registry, but I cannot find it. I am thinking that I am going to have to use the "rescue disc" to go back to factory settings. Or I suppose I could rid myself of the windows virus once and for all... Thanks to all who tried to help.
