Also notice that the new kmail is part of this: > kde-base/kmail-3.5.0-r3 (/usr/kde/3.5/bin/kmail) You may want to reemerge kmail as well. Oh, equery belongs kmail. I went to the menu editer and got the command used to launch Kmail then asked who it belonged to. Kmail used to belong to kdepim but KDE changed all that I guess. Hope this helps.
