Are you installing this on the slackware box? If the network is already working and you have a spare partition then you don't need the installation cd. Just download a stage3 and follow the handbook.
By the way, when you click "reply" in the email client and start a new topic, it's called "thread hijacking". My mail client seems to think that's what you did. :)
