Perhaps if you're using WEP it's easier on a binary distro, but if you're using WPA-PSK it's a lot easier on Gentoo. Just edit wpa_supplicant.conf to enter your pre-shared key, and add modules=("wpa_supplicant") wlan0=("dhcp") in /etc/conf.d/net The other distros I tried all had long HOWTOs (complete with editing system scripts as opposed to just editing configuration files) on how to make sure wpa_supplicant would start before the interface came up. -- Manuel A.
