Hello all.
I have run into a strange little quirk that is really annoying me.
Using the latest version of GNOME, my keyboard repeat has recently
decided to stop working (i.e., holding down any key and have it
repeatedly fire).
I go to the Keyboard control panel and the "Key presses repeat when key
is help down" box is checked. I uncheck and recheck it, and my key
repeat now works... until it decides to stop working again. I then
repeat and it works again, for a while.
Does anyone have any ideas what the trouble is? I only recently
noticed this happening (the last 48 hours) and it is really annoying.
Not kill my neighbor annoying, but annoying.
Thanks for any help!

I had the exact same problem, and it was caused by snes9x. So if
you're using that then that's probably the problem, if not then it
could be another program that's causes it. Does the problem come back
even if you don't run anything else?

Unfortunately, I'm not running snes9x and the repeat seems to die
whenever it wants. Not starting up any additional programs, it just
died again. Very frustrating. :(

I found it. Creepy weird.
I was actually starting a new application, but it didn't click in my
head. I am doing Java development and so everytime I test my app, I am
"starting an app"... but I didn't think about it. :P
The problem is weird. I am using a Java called JMonkey Engine (a 3D
scene graph architecture). If I hit CANCEL at a certain point, my
repeat dies. If I run the program again and hit OK at the same point,
it returns.
Weird.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction David. :)
