I copy them over to a new name them like vmlinuz-2.6.9-r1, etc. I also copy the working kernel to something like vmlinuz-prevgood. Then I update the test section in LILO to point to the new kernel and it's available for the next time I decide to reboot and try it. > > From: Neil Bothwick > Date: 2004/12/07 Tue AM 09:15:20 GMT > To: gentoo-user@lists.gentoo.org > Subject: Re: [gentoo-user] kernel 2.6 upgrade howto > > ------=____1102423698443_Kuu9HnNJHQ Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Type: multipart/signed; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; micalg="pgp-sha1"; boundary="Signature=_Tue__7_Dec_2004_09_15_20_+0000_49f4u25mMloYSC1X"; name="reply" Content-Disposition: inline; filename="reply" LS1TaWduYXR1cmU9X1R1ZV9fN19EZWNfMjAwNF8wOV8xNV8yMF8rMDAwMF80OWY0dTI1bU1s b1lTQzFYDQpDb250ZW50LVR5cGU6IHRleHQvcGxhaW47IGNoYXJzZXQ9VVMtQVNDSUkNCkNv bnRlbnQtRGlzcG9zaXRpb246IGlubGluZQ0KQ29udGVudC1UcmFuc2Zlci1FbmNvZGluZzog N2JpdA0KDQpPbiBNb24sIDYgRGVjIDIwMDQgMjA6MzQ6NTcgLTA1MDAgKEVTVCksIEJyZXR0 IEkuIEhvbGNvbWIgd3JvdGU6DQoNCj4gVGhlIEdlbnRvbyBkb2NzIHNheSBmb3IgMi42IHNp bXBseSBkbyBtYWtlICYmIG1ha2UgbW9kdWxlc19pbnN0YWxsLiAgSQ0KPiB0aGluayBJIHRy aWVkIHRoZSBtYWtlIGluc3RhbGwgYW5kIGdvdCBhbiB3YXJuaW5nIG1lc3NhZ2UuDQoNCg0K VGhlIG9ubHkgd2FybmluZyBtZXNzYWdlIEkndmUgc2VlbiBpcyBvbmUgc2F5aW5nIHRoYXQN CmdydWIuY29uZiBtYXkgbmVlZCB0byBiZSBlZGl0ZWQsIGl0IGRvZXNuJ3QuDQoNCklmIHlv dSB0cnVzdCB0aGUgbWFrZWZpbGUgdG8gaW5zdGFsbCB0aGUgbW9kdWxlcywgd2h5IG5vdCB0 aGUga2VybmVsDQp0b28/IEl0J3MgYSBsb3QgZWFzaWVyIHRoYW4gbWFudWFsbHkgcmVuYW1p bmcgdGhyZWUgZmlsZXMgKGtlcm5lbCwNClN5c3RlbS5tYXAgYW5kIGNvbmZpZyksIHJlbmFt aW5nIHRoZSB0aHJlZSBzeW1saW5rcyB0byB0aGVtLCBjb3B5aW5nDQp0aHJlZSBmaWxlcyBh bmQgY3JlYXRpbmcgdGhyZWUgbmV3IHN5bWxpbmtzLg0KDQoNCi0tIA0KTmVpbCBCb3Rod2lj aw0KDQpFTWFpbCAtIGdhcmJhZ2UgYXQgdGhlIHNwZWVkIG9mIGxpZ2h0Lg0KDQotLVNpZ25h dHVyZT1fVHVlX183X0RlY18yMDA0XzA5XzE1XzIwXyswMDAwXzQ5ZjR1MjVtTWxvWVNDMVgN CkNvbnRlbnQtVHlwZTogYXBwbGljYXRpb24vcGdwLXNpZ25hdHVyZQ0KDQotLS0tLUJFR0lO IFBHUCBTSUdOQVRVUkUtLS0tLQ0KVmVyc2lvbjogR251UEcgdjEuMi42IChHTlUvTGludXgp DQoNCmlEOERCUUZCdFhTcnVtNGFsME4xR1FNUkFvWXlBSjRtSWRwR0NhMi9HcmRaQnc3TDl2 ZlAyaFhJelFDZmFDa3YNCkEzend6Vlk4LzNvdkJXSWNBaXZ3bjBFPQ0KPXp0NFoNCi0tLS0t RU5EIFBHUCBTSUdOQVRVUkUtLS0tLQ0KDQotLVNpZ25hdHVyZT1fVHVlX183X0RlY18yMDA0 XzA5XzE1XzIwXyswMDAwXzQ5ZjR1MjVtTWxvWVNDMVgtLQ0K --Signature=_Tue__7_Dec_2004_09_15_20_+0000_49f4u25mMloYSC1X-- ------=____1102423698443_Kuu9HnNJHQ Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list ------=____1102423698443_Kuu9HnNJHQ--
