Hi list,
i downloaded the 2006.0 livecd today and tried to boot from it. But
even with the parameters "gentoo-nofb nodetect noapic nohotplug
acpi=off nodma nousb noapic nolapic nox debug" the installer hung up
with the lines:
io scheduler noop registered
io scheduler deadline registered
Then the console freezes completely and i have to do a hard reboot.
Any other install CDs from Ubuntu to Fedora and Debian works when i
use "noapic nolapic acpi=off". I included the output of "lspci -v".
Hope anyone can give me a clue how to get it work on my machine. I do
not know what to do further.
Jason

I don't know exactly what is with those two lines, but if I were you I
would check the md5sum or another way to see if the ISO you downloaded
came right before burning it (again)... I once burned a faulty ISO and
got stuck for a whole afternoon, then simply downloaded the ISO again,
checked it with md5 and burned it again, and it worked.

I double-checked the MD5sum and it is correct. The Install CD works on
another system perfectly well... but this is not the system on which i want to
install Gentoo ;-).
Also the 2005.1 install CD worked well on this machine. But it can not be
the solution just not to use the new install CD.

Well, it seems like a kernel bug... Maybe you should report it...
