I think, that this is bug #61195 - http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id= =3D61195 The behaviour is caused by the fact, that TERM=3Dgnome and in the screenr= c, there's no setting which informs screen, that there's a scroll back buffer in the terminal (or something like this).
