Would OP posting the world file help?  I'm sure some of us could recognize things that shouldn't be there and could help clean it up.  Things with a specific version should be given a hard look.

That would be a fantastic opportunity, but I'm not sure when tomorrow the update will be done  ;-)




It won't hurt to get the info even while it is updating.  As long as you are not emerging anything new, it shouldn't change.  This will get the info.


cat /var/lib/portage/world


Then copy the output and paste it in a email.  It's plain text so post the whole thing.  You could just attach the file as well.  Either way should work.
