On my new system I'm suing "firefox-bin-57.0.4" using:
firefox-bin -ProfileManager %U
When I start firefox first time the profile manager pops up, I can
select a profile; but when I try to start again (different profile) when
I click on firefox it start again with the same profile I'm already
running.
Should I downgrade to firefox-bin-52.2.0

ProfileManager with firefox-bin-52.5.3-r1 doesn't work either.

This is intended behavior, to use an already running instance. If you
want to start a new instance, try using:
firefox-bin --ProfileManager --new-instance %U
For more information about command line options, see also:
firefox-bin --help
