It always feels like "suboptimal because it is not in > the kernel" to me (think licensing issues here). That's why I'm looking at btrfs. ZFS is great, it does all I want it to. But it is not in the kernel, which is not a major issue. More important is that it is based on an old version of ZFS, later versions are still closed source. That's a shame, because they support neat things like encryption (yet another separate layer got rid of) and it means ZFS on Linux can't really go anywhere beyond bug fixes and minor tweaks. --=20 Neil Bothwick There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot. --Sig_/+d4xZq=d9IOtDajD2cJn.I0 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=signature.asc -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAlN2B9kACgkQum4al0N1GQOuoQCgwbmu7LoCqMRwTTQ4rFWWNyrp 8+UAn1MBTQYbd2Gm011SkrWZdsX09rbe =Jhg1 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Sig_/+d4xZq=d9IOtDajD2cJn.I0--
