for all i know, my data disk died yesterday (WD caviar black, 2TB).
first i see the message:
SATA PORT3 Device Error
Press F1 to resume
and then during boot up this:
[ 2.775026] ata3: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300)
[ 2.775571] ata3.00: failed to IDENTIFY (INIT_DEV_PARAMS failed,
err_mask=0x80)
[ 8.233178] ata3: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300)
[ 8.233717] ata3.00: failed to IDENTIFY (INIT_DEV_PARAMS failed,
err_mask=0x80)
[ 8.234080] ata3: limiting SATA link speed to 1.5 Gbps
[ 13.691330] ata3: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 310)
[ 13.691866] ata3.00: failed to IDENTIFY (INIT_DEV_PARAMS failed, err_mask=0x80)
[ 19.149483] ata3: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113 SControl 310)
yes, i changed sata connections, with the same results (changing the
sata number, of course)
i don know anything about this, but my hunch is that it's a burnt PCB.
i've fond several repair services on the web, but i would greatly
appreciate recommendations based on personal experience.
thanks,
lj
