No, as I understand it Intel's SRT is not a hybrid drive - but functions=20 similarly when using two seperate drives: 1 SSD for caching and any combo = of=20 conventional spinning drives. > I *think* that these hybrid drives connect to the PC with a single SATA > cable, and I believe that they appear to Linux as two separate drives - > /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. You should be able to check this with the google. >=20 > Assuming my understanding is correct, you should be able to use these > drives with Linux's SSD caching features - dm-cache or Bcache. >=20 > http://www.h-online.com/open/features/What-s-new-in-Linux-3-9-1845705.html >=20 > http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=3Dnews_item&px=3DMTM2ODM Thanks Stroller! Good pointers. Yes, it's made it in the kernel and indeed bcache is the linux equivalent t= o=20 SRT. Now, I'm not sure how it'll co-work with Intel's SRT, or if I should= =20 just switch it off and use bcache independently of the MoBo's SRT feature. In which case, I might as well buy a machine that does not have all this=20 unnecessary for me technology. Hmmm ... some more thinking required. =2D-=20 Regards, Mick --nextPart22500417.4sg8QQ9i7O Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.20 (GNU/Linux) iQEcBAABAgAGBQJRyvQ/AAoJELAdA+zwE4YeszEH/3zhpxZ7ZfJRh1I5pgBC6c/G rOOP5DWi+4+j8d7R8gFQimbEWdcb4wuQdRJEFbEMXRv/ODb4C2kXDxxlio4YmW6f 4ylvgUeyCv89SlQgwexKA0f12e+k66p2RDtfyhC6sUAG//FqAwG4YlzYsnNmt6qF NzzdezWjM4d7+SWKICK2RsFIVxzofgcAZ4f2r/W1owF8DFKvw3Q03Tts7hU5LbOv k+5RMnALA02oOzYqGaMzJe9MqujBKjenbrRkpXbJ/fFbjXZcMFM/2+tMeCc9d4qb LmbagwvXaom51ZFT2Kefo7CeKztwHDwNz/Vixk1OwZww9T3FQXiEgHRG5op2DP8= =JEzf -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart22500417.4sg8QQ9i7O--
