Is openSUSE lies in > the middle between Ubuntu and Gentoo? OpenSUSE is not that different from Ubuntu, but is a long way from Gentoo. There is no way to meaningfully compare *Ubuntu and OpenSUSE, because it=20 depends what suits your taste and preferences. You can install both, run t= hem=20 for a few weeks and see which you feel more comfortable with. Last time I installed OpenSUSE (some years ago) I had to reinstall it when= =20 time came to upgrade to the latest version. With Ubuntu the upgrade path w= as=20 pretty seamless. The Ubuntu devs had it all scripted out via the update=20 manager. So, Ubuntu is I think easier to look after and keep upgrading tha= n=20 OpenSUSE was back then. Not sure how things have evolved since then in the= =20 OpenSUSE world. CentOS was no better than OpenSUSE in this regard. So, for a newcomer to Linux I would recommend *Ubuntu. =2D-=20 Regards, Mick --nextPart1699275.X1OX5sWluX Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.17 (GNU/Linux) iEYEABECAAYFAk7hGYAACgkQVTDTR3kpaLYGXgCdFpjeroihAmbRzOBOPsd/NHh0 gEgAoOvPTpNAEpGJ1/B7TvEuA2PqBH+Q =dDHv -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart1699275.X1OX5sWluX--
