Well, /boot cannot be on LVM, as the BIOS does not know about logical volumes. > This makes me > nervous as heck tho. I have read where if something goes wrong, you > can lose everything. It's no worse than a normal partitioning system, just more flexible. These scan the current logical volumes and generate lvcreate commands into a script that can rebuild your LVM set-up in seconds. You (or anybody else) are welcome to a copy if you wish. After that, back up the contents using tar, dar, cpio or whatever your favourite archiving tool happens to be. --=20 Regards, Dave [RLU #314465] *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* dwnoon@ntlworld.com (David W Noon) *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* --Sig_/931v34+XfsQ1=kEf3Z5bd64 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=signature.asc -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.17 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAk5tLEYACgkQc9/LpQ70v48hlACfQqUF7CHnQkIEHIOmqxk6PgIS mTwAnRY37nkwUlSZ6iF1nNJuYl3HQIPq =NyBs -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Sig_/931v34+XfsQ1=kEf3Z5bd64--
