Hi Guys,

I'm an old Gentoo fun and after a while I installed back to my
machine. Unfortunately, I got used to the comfort of the Windows and
my main purpose is that to make a comfortable work environment which
is as comfortable as Win7 could be. The first step is in this process
the taskbar.

So, I'm just wondering is there any solution to have vertical menu in
KDE4? I would like to something like Win7 taskbar? In Xfce I was able
to do this but, to be honest, my favorite desktop environment in *nix
world is KDE.
I have 2 monitors and it's very comfortable that when I put the panel
(taskbar) the right side of left monitor because this is almost
centered.

Thanks in advance,

András

Apparently, though unproven, at 14:53 on Tuesday 24 May 2011, András Csányi
did opine thusly:

Click the cashew at the right hand side of the taskbar, click Screen Edge and
drag it to where you want it to go.

I hope this does what you want. If your taskbar is on the bottom like
mine, click on the little button for the panel setting, should be on the
far right. I think they call that a cashew or something. It doesn't
look like a cashew to me tho. Anyway. In the menu that pops up, click
on the screen edge button and while holding the mouse button, drag it to
where you want it.

I only have a single monitor so I'm not sure how that works but that is
how I move mine, although mine is on the bottom. I have considered
moving it to the top but then again . . . .

I hope that helps.

Dale

In truth, it's not that easy to find if you do not already know KDE. To
someone new to KDE, the cashew could be many things - decoration? a button
that does nothing? a broken button that flashes something and then goes away
as soon as you move the mouse? but it being the config Go button is the very
last thing most people will think of.

And then there's the problem of bounding the pointer inside the taskbar while
moving it around. Move the pointer one pixel outside the black bar, and it
instantly goes away.

KDE is and has many good things, but a well thought-out taskbar configurator
is not in that list :-)

Oh, you'll have to work much harder than that to get LotD!
What, you think they *give* those away?
