[gentoo-user] Simplistic timed DVB-T recording possibilty searched...

Hi,

I want to record DVB-T broadcast with my (already working) DVB-T card.
Since there are only a couple of broadcasts which should be recorded
I have no problems with editing crontabs to acchieve, what I want :)

What should work is:
1) The PC should wake up from suspend-to-ram or (better!)
   suspend-to-disk state (suspend-to-* works both already).
2) Therefore it must be possible to store the wake-up time
   somewhere.
3) The DVBT-card should be set to the correct channel and
   it is sufficient to store the whole *.ts-stram to disk
   for later processing.

Hi James,

I found that settings already. 
But as I wrote thet I would not have problems with editing crontabs, I
did mean to enter the BIOS each time to enter the wakeup time,
when my Gentoo should again start to count its 64bits... ;)

Is there a way to put this wakeup time into the BIOS via userland
(and without doing harm to BIOS/BIOS flash or whatelse can be
killed tzhat way...)?

Ok, so far so nice.
I managed to set the alarm time correctly, to activate the RTC-alarm
in the BIOS, and "wake up" my PC:
It means: The fans woke up, the harddisc start spinning, ... but no
output to screen and (I could not remember, since there was a call
on the phone at that moment) there was no POST "beep" from the BIOS.

Am I lost?

This can be done through the BIOS. MythTV also has an option to wake up
before recordings, so you could look at how they do it.

MythTV just sets the time in the BIOS then shuts the computer down (or  
to sleep).
